Developing Your Philosophy of Living & Leading: One Moment at a Time
Brigadier General (Retired) Maureen LeBoeuf, Ed.D.

We all have a story and some are so memorable they impact the way we live the rest of our lives. In the self-published book, Developing Your Philosophy of Living & Leading One Moment at a Time, Brigadier General (Ret.) Maureen K. LeBoeuf shares the stories that have affected not only how she lives her life, but also how she overcame obstacles, broke through barriers, and grew to become an unexpected yet outstanding leader starting at a very early age.

Beginning with funny anecdotes about what life was like as the fifth of nine children in a family led by a strict but loving Irish Catholic father and a brilliant and equally loving mother, Maureen recounts how a golf ball through a window, a red ribbon, a broken ukulele, and other childhood memories each contributed to important life lessons.

She also shares significant experiences collected during 28 years in the U.S. Army. Using these moments, Maureen developed a written doctrine - a Leadership Philosophy - which she was able to rely on with confidence. An educator at heart, Maureen concludes the book by guiding her readers through the exercises of selecting the values most important to them, defining those values, and turning those same values into what will become the reader's very own Philosophy of Living and Leading. The stories Maureen includes in this book are about success, failure, almost quitting, leading, sadness, regrets, pride, following, fear, sexual harassment, tough love, and setting standards. From these stories, the reader can expect to learn who they are as a person and a leader.

"If you want people to perform as if you were around, everyone needs to understand the organizational values. Leaders need to regularly communicate and reward organizational values."
