Experience

Remi is a 1993 graduate of the United States Military Academy. Remi led deployed soldiers and civilian teammates who built strategies and effectively worked across cultures in Iraq, Afghanistan, Eastern Europe, and in other locations. While serving as a senior leader of a U.S. advising organization in Iraq, he led U.S. service members and civilians to successfully advise senior foreign government officials and generals to enhance intelligence operations, military effectiveness, and organizational culture. He directed the U.S. Army’s Culture Center, an organization that helped the U.S. military with relevant curriculum and whose faculty educated and trained service members to effectively deploy worldwide. While in Poland, he headed a strategy development team that crafted an approved grand strategy for the Eastern European region, and he also improved the U.S. unit’s cross-cultural competence via his own expertise and by bringing in cultural and linguistic experts.

Remi directed an academic major program in West Point’s Leadership Department, and he directed the Diversity Committee.

Publications/Awards

Remi published articles in a myriad of peer-reviewed multi-disciplinary journals and venues for professional leaders, including five sole-authored publications in the #1 academic journal for international studies of the military, Armed Forces and Society. The topics of his work include studies of organizations and their cultures, leadership and leader development, cross-cultural competence, advising and cross-cultural relationship building, how to harness diversity and inclusion, and effective ways to educate and train leaders of character. He has led several dozens of professional development seminars, workshops, classes, and presentations.

In his final assignment on active-duty, Remi served as a tenured military faculty member and Master Teacher at West Point, where he taught and developed faculty as well as cadets. Remi received the Scholastic Achievement Award from the West Point Chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. The United States Military Academy appointed Remi as Professor Emeritus.
