Tuesday, June 26, 2012Fort Belvoir is under new leadership as of today. On Monday morning, Belvoir's new commander, Colonel Gregory Gadson received the Fort Belvoir command flag from outgoing commander Colonel John Strycula. Gadson, the Director of the U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program, is a 27-year Army veteran with three Bronze Star medals, a Purple Heart and Iraq and Afghanistan combat medals. He's a graduate of West Point Strycula, who was base commander since July 2010, oversaw the final stages of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) implementation and a massive increase to the population of Belvoir. Leadership opportunity for the community! Volunteer to serve as a "Cadet Candidate" for R-Day Rehearsal Class of 2016 at West Point
Friday, June 01, 2012Each summer the Cadet Leadership at West Point must rehearse this complex process that transforms 1150 civilians into cadets in approximately eight hours. In order to achieve this, the Corps of Cadets needs volunteers from the community to serve as “Cadet Candidates” and go through the process as if they were arriving on “R-Day.” Read More +

Tuesday, May 22, 2012Colonel Greg Gadson is not only an actor in one of the Summer of 2012’s biggest action movies, playing “Mick Canales,” he is a decorated Army commander who served in Iraq. In 2007 Gadson lost both of his legs when his car was hit by a roadside bomb. When the creators of "Battleship" wanted to include a character who had been wounded in the film, Gadson’s story of recovery made him the ideal candidate. Read More +
