TLDG’s inspirational setting at the Thayer Hotel at West Point is constantly reinforcing leadership
Thursday, May 28, 2015

TLDG’s inspirational setting at the Thayer Hotel at West Point is constantly reinforcing the leadership principles that are taught at West Point and that are taught to executives at TLDG.

The rooms at the Thayer Hotel, where TLDG’s attendees stay, are often named after inspirational West Point graduates who have led in all areas of human endeavor around the world.

This month for instance, a room was dedicated to President Fidel V. Ramos, the retired President of the Philippines. A graduate of West Point as an international cadet in 1950, Ramos served in uniform in the Philippines rising from a platoon leader through the Chief of the Philippine Defense Forces (equivalent to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs), then was appointed Secretary of Philippine Defense Forces (similar to the Secretary of Defense) and then was elected as the President of the Philippines. A soldier at heart, he fought communism for five decades, and fought for peace. Under his leadership peace thrived and the economy boomed.

TLDG guests who stay at the Thayer Hotel can now request the Ramos room as their room of choice (subject to availability). The link below gives a summary of President Ramos' room dedication ceremony.

"Most people spend 90% of their time on tasks and 10% on leadership. Start spending 50% of your time on leadership and you will notice that others will pick up the slack on the tasks."
